How Disney Became My Happy Place

If you’ve spent any amount of time around me, you’ve probably figured out that I love Disney.

Actually, “love” might be putting it lightly.

My friends send me Disney memes. My family sends me Disney news articles. My social media feeds are filled with Disney content. And if there’s a Disney conversation happening nearby, chances are I’m joining in.

But here’s something a lot of people don’t know.

I wasn’t always obsessed with Disney.

I visited Disney World for the first time as a toddler and went back again in high school. Like most people, I had fun. I enjoyed the rides, the attractions, and the experience. But Disney wasn’t a huge part of my life at that point.

The real Disney obsession didn’t begin until adulthood.

Somewhere between staying at Disney resorts, walking down Main Street, U.S.A., and discovering all the little details that make Disney special, I completely fell in love with it.

And over time, Disney became much more than a vacation destination.

It became my happy place.

Falling in Love with Disney as an Adult

When most people think about Disney, they think about childhood.

For me, the connection became stronger as I got older.

As an adult, I started noticing things I never paid attention to before. The storytelling. The atmosphere. The attention to detail. The way every resort, attraction, and experience feels intentionally designed to make you feel something.

I realized Disney wasn’t just about rides.

It was about how the entire experience made me feel.

I loved discovering hidden details throughout the parks. I loved exploring different resorts and seeing how each one had its own personality. I loved slowing down enough to notice the little moments that often get overlooked when you’re rushing from attraction to attraction.

The more I visited, the more I realized that Disney gave me something I wasn’t finding enough of in everyday life.

Joy.

Not the big life-changing kind of joy. Just simple happiness. The kind that comes from being present, laughing with people you love, and enjoying an experience without worrying about what comes next.

Why Disney Feels Different

Life has a way of becoming very practical.

There is always another project to finish. Another bill to pay. Another thing on the to-do list. Another reason to put off the trip until next year.

I think a lot of us spend so much time being responsible that we forget we’re allowed to enjoy ourselves too.

That’s one of the reasons Disney means so much to me.

When I’m there, I feel present in a way that’s hard to explain.

I’m not thinking about work. I’m not thinking about everything waiting for me at home. I’m not focused on the next thing I need to accomplish.

Instead, I’m focused on where I am, who I’m with, and the memories we’re creating together.

For a few days, life slows down.

I get to enjoy the experience instead of constantly managing the next responsibility.

And honestly, I think that’s something more adults need.

We all deserve things that bring us joy. We all deserve experiences that give us something to look forward to.

Disney happens to be that place for me.

The Moment That Gets Me Every Time

There is one Disney moment that never changes, no matter how many times I visit.

Walking down Main Street, U.S.A. and seeing the castle.

Every single time, I get emotional.

I know it’s coming. I’ve seen it before. I’ve taken countless pictures of it.

And yet somehow, the moment still gets me.

Part of it is the excitement. Part of it is the memories attached to that view. And part of it is knowing that for the next few days, I get to step away from everyday life and focus on fun, connection, and making memories.

It’s a reminder of why I love Disney in the first place.

Not because it’s perfect.

Not because it’s a theme park.

But because of how it makes me feel.

Why I Became a Disney Travel Advisor

Over the years, friends and family started coming to me with Disney questions.

They wanted help choosing resorts. They wanted advice on planning. They wanted someone to help make sense of all the options and decisions that come with a Disney vacation.

And I loved helping them.

Not just because I enjoy talking about Disney, although that’s certainly true.

I loved helping because I knew what Disney had become for me.

I knew it was more than a trip.

It was something to look forward to during a stressful season. It was quality time with people I loved. It was a chance to make memories that would stay with me long after the vacation ended.

I wanted other people to experience that feeling too.

That’s ultimately why I became a travel advisor.

Yes, I help people choose resorts, create plans, and navigate Disney’s ever-changing systems. But what I’m really helping people do is create experiences they’ll remember for years.

I’m helping them spend less time stressing about the details and more time looking forward to the magic.

Your Happy Place Might Be Waiting

Disney may not be everyone’s happy place.

But I think everyone deserves a place that brings them joy.

A place where they can reconnect with the people they love. A place that gives them something to look forward to. A place where they can step away from everyday responsibilities and simply enjoy being present.

For me, that place is Disney.

And if Disney feels like that place for you too, I’d love to help you get there.

Whether you’re dreaming about an anniversary trip, a girls’ getaway, a runDisney weekend, or simply a vacation you’ve been putting off for too long, I’m here to help make the planning easier.

Because life is meant to be enjoyed, not just managed.

And sometimes the memories are worth taking the trip.
